Trustee from 1958 to 1981. Served as counselor to President Nixon and chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers during the Eisenhower administration. He was John Bates Clark Professor of Economics at Columbia University as well as chairman and president of the Na­tional Bureau of Economic Research.
